Meningitis B Vaccinations

Two-dose MenB vaccine to be offered to young people ahead of the autumn as part of a one-off vaccination programme in England.

Thousands of young people across England will get protection against Meningococcal B (Men B) disease through a one-off vaccination programme launching ahead of the 2026 academic year.

Eligible students will be offered a 2-dose vaccination before they start university, where close and prolonged contact in halls and at social events can increase the risk of contracting MenB disease. Two doses of the vaccine are essential for protection.

This programme will be run entirely by the chemists and pharmacies. GP surgeries will not be taking part in this programme, which is likely to commence in July 2026.
