Carterton Health Centre CALM Assessment Centre
As part of the NHS's efforts to protect patients and healthcare workers at this difficult time, Carterton Health Centre has opened as COVID-19 centre, supporting patients with suspected or confirmed Coronavirus ONLY. This is not a walk-in centre and patients are referred to this clinic following an NHS 111 telephone appointment or, in certain circumstances, after a telephone appointment with their GP practice. This was set up when we were instructed to expect large numbers of patients in the community. We have been fortunate that the NHS has not been overwhelmed.
Once at the clinic, patients are assessed and advised about the most appropriate care and next steps. This may be a referral to hospital or observation and monitoring at home. This COVID centre will be seeing patients from Burford, Broadshires, Bampton, Charlbury and Faringdon. This is not a testing centre but an assessment centre only.
Although we are not working in quite the same way, you can still get in touch with us about routine concerns or more urgent issues which are nothing to do with coronavirus. We are trying to avoid all but essential face-to-face contact, so your consultation will be done over the phone or by video, and if you do need to be seen, safe arrangements will be put in place for this appointment at Burford. While this centre is needed, all patients registered with us are treated initially by telephone or on-line.
